Trust the process

Yesterday I was flattered and humbled to discover that something that I had said had really stuck with a student. I'm sure that it was something that I heard at one time or another while I was facing the mirrors instead of facing the bathrooms. More than ever I felt the impact and responsibility of my role.

Generally the things I choose to talk about to students are things that I find I have to apply in my own training at the time, or ideas that I have rediscovered or finally learned to truly appreciate.

Some of the things that we say to our students don't mean that much to them at the time, but can really hit home a little later in their training. When they do find these things are true and applicable to their training it strengthens the bond of trust between them and their teachers and peers - and roots them a little deeper in the kwoon.

The hard part is to allow yourself to take that leap of faith in the first place - to put your trust in your instructors - and to trust the process.
